Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

The emergence of this application now meets those of the other Creative Suite applications. You can switch between workspaces directly from a pull-down menu, and we find the collapsible panels more elegant to place and size.

Dreamweaver new Code Navigator shows the CSS rules underlying layout elements. Only the mouse over a footnote, may, for example, and then double-click on the text and the browser text formatting code. A new CSS mode in the Properties panel provides quick access to the code.

Dreamweaver new Live View shows things that would otherwise be difficult to detect that with JavaScript in the browser, such as rollover effects leads. For example, you can freeze a view of the rollover state while you are using the code in Dreamweaver.

There is more cooperation between all the Creative Suite. For example, you can drag and drop SWF files into Dreamweaver pages. Delete Smart Objects Photoshop PSD files into Web pages without loss of the source files.

To run Dreamweaver CS4 on a Windows computer, you need XP SP2 or Vista with a 1-GHz or higher processor and 1 GB or more free hard disk space. Mac users need a PowerPC G5 or Intel-based machine running at least OS X version 10.4.11, with at least 512 MB of RAM and 1.8 GB of free disk space. You also need a DVD drive and a 1280 x 800 monitor with 16-bit video card.
